Company History
It always begins somewhere.

When Danny Pounds founded Pounds Photographic Labs, Inc. in 1976, he had one goal in mind: to serve the professional “people photography” market of Central and West Texas.  Danny recognized that the region was underserved and believed he had what it took to fill that gap.  Keeping his goal in mind, he opened his lab in Austin, Texas with just ten employees and basic photo-finishing equipment.

Over the years, Pounds Labs grew increasingly as word of superior products and services spread throughout the region.  In 1981, Pounds acquired Zintgraf Photographic Labs, which held facilities in Dallas and Houston.  This acquisition significantly changed Pounds, tripling its market and capabilities.

The following year, Pounds expanded its customer base with the purchase of Photo Processors of Austin.  In 1990, a New Logolab in Houston named 5P was acquired.  1996 was a great year at Pounds;  continued successes lead to the acquisition of the portrait division of Meisel Visual Imaging out of Dallas as well as Protecol in Houston.  Pounds further expanded its customer base in 2003 with the acquisition of Wallace Color, a lab in San Angelo, Texas. In 2004, Pounds re-branded itself to demonstrate it's new commitment to servicing both traditional and digital photographers alike.

Today, Pounds serves customers across the United Stated from a centralized production facility in Dallas.  With the nearly 100 photo-finishing professionals at our Lab, Danny’s goal continues today.  With the latest digital imaging equipment and technology, Pounds is placing an emphasis on supporting today’s digital photographer.  Don’t worry, we still welcome film photographers with open arms!

From detailed film and flatbed scanning, digital retouching and art to unrivaled color correction, superior photo printing to leading press printing… Pounds Photographic Labs has the solution to support your photographic needs.
